Famara Activities

Famara offers many amazing activities, most of these are on offer all year around but are better in either summer or winter. The surf in Famara is better in winter when the main swells track up the Atlantic ocean but waves are available all year round on the beach. Hang gliding in Lanzarote is best in Winter as the winds are ligther and cloudbase is regularly much higher with cleaner themals. Paragliding in Lanzarote again is best in Winter. Kitesurfing in Lanzarote is best in Summer, this is when the trade winds start to blow and famara beach offers a great mixture of wind and waves.

Famara is something of an alternative village, away from the tourist route.

The place with its small white houses dotted about in random fashion, lies in a wide, open landscape at the foot of mighty cliffs.

The roads in the village are mostly just sandy tracks and the beach is wild and left to nature. There is a complex of bungalows which climbs the slope which can be rented and make a fantastic holiday away fro it all. A northerly wind blows almost always, creating great waves for the happy surfer. Surfers come here to ride the world-class waves; the rest of us come to just relax and enjoy the peace and quiet….

Famara bungalows...

are unique - located on the lower slopes of the cliffs, they are half-moon shaped and set in their own gardens, and all are just a stone’s throw from the beach.

In Famara one can eat well at a reasonable price, especially if one enjoys fresh local fish. One can sit here with the unique backdrop of cliffs and listen to the sound of the waves.

Famara is unlike anywhere else on Lanzarote. It boasts the longest beach on the island, with a stunning backdrop of 2000' cliffs.

People love Famara because of its laid-back atmosphere, barely touched by tourism.

There is a restaurant, bar and shop on site, as well as a communal swimming pool. Just a short distance away is the fishing village of La Caleta de Famara, with a small number of restaurants and bars.

…you like long, sandy beaches and the wind in your hair. A cooling Atlantic breeze means pleasant summer temperatures
…….you’re happy to unwind over a drink and a meal in the evening, either on one of the bungalows terraces or outdoor BBQ area, or in one of La Caleta’s fish restaurants.

Nightlife in Famara is very low-key, although it’s a just a short drive into the capital of Lanzarotre, Arrecife, or into one of the tourist resorts.

In the old Capital of Teguise there are a few nice bars and restaurants. Go a little further to Nazaret and you will find the lovely restaurant of 'Lagomar', there is also a great 'Cave Bar' with a seperate entrance with good music on Friday and Saturday nights and Jazz on Sunday afternoon.

Each bungalow is set on a plot of 1000m2. The bungalows are and roads within the area of the bungalows are privately owned amongst all the owners. Each owner pays a community fee each year for the shared areas. There are three types of bungalow that are all built to the same basic design.
